Waiting for You

Waiting for You

He stood there at the station,
with broad smile from ears to chin,
hopes and dreams in weaving thought,
new life about to begin.

Foreign lands played on his mind,
starting new for both of them,
hearts desire would meet him here,
the train leaves at 8:00 pm.

Gold watch pulled from pocket vest,
pressed and worried, running late,
all he owned was sent abroad,
packed away in wooden crates.

As anxious moments gathered,
steam engine blows release,
yet absent is his angel,
who’s essence brings him peace.

Murmurs echo through the crowd,
angst stirring at the station,
intent he listens for his name,
in stark anticipation.

The station fills with essence,
dancing shadows in the rain,
as time moves in slow motion,
he boards the west bound train.

The misty fog grows thicker,
and builds a tense commotion,
as waving eyes are gleaming,
and filled with kept emotion.

Cargo racks are packed on board,
while tea vendors trade the chill,
reflections gleam on puddles black,
in mirrored silent stills.

Shadows move in greyish hues,
its dark in mid November,
solemnly he waits for her,
in hopes that she’ll remember.

New life rides the train at eight,
was both their understanding,
last look at departure gate,
and at the borders landing.

Conductor calls “all aboard”,
steam engine sprays the dusk,
and there she stood in the rain,
in red coat, Corset and busk.
