Ancient Warrior
High bridged eyebrows, long sharp nose,
with hands clasped in Roman prose
eyes in prayer to gods below
essential for the roots to grow.
On his head abundant layers
passed down to his harvest heirs
blessings from this devotee
this ancient Roman olive tree.
